"The life-size monument of Brother Felix, made of fiberglass in bronze finished, stands at the Church's Central Office complex in Quezon City, Philippines."

source: PASUGO, May 2010, pg. 16

"Leading the Church in commemorating the 47th death anniversary of Brother Felix. Manalo, the Messenger of God in these last days, on April 12, 2010, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, Executive Minister, led the laying of wreath on the monument of Brother Felix Manalo."

source: PASUGO, May 2010, pg. 16

:)21 hours ago ·"

source:  http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=136163806524498&set=o.134466599937953&type=1&relevant_count=1

"This is a direct violation of God's teachings (Exo. 20:1-5). God strictly prohibits the use of any kind of image as an object of worship for it is tantamount to having other gods before Him."

source: PASUGO, September 2001, pg.5

Hornby and E.C. Parnwell:

                                           "regard with deep respect..."

" a theological term signifying the honour paid to the saints, while latria means worship given to God alone, and hyperdulia the veneration offered to the Blessed Virgin Mary."

source: New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia

"The 10th of May cannot pass unnoticed by members of the Church of Christ, for on this day, Brother Felix Y. Manalo, God's Messenger in these last days, was born 126 years ago. In view of this, the Church Administration refurbished Brother Felix Manalo's life-size monument that can be found at the Iglesia Ni Cristo Central Office premises, in New Era, Quezon City. Moreover, it is presently housed inside a simple, yet elegantly designed, gazebo-type structure. To be called the FYM Memorial, it was built to remind Church members that although the Last Messenger is gone, his memory lives on; that the spiritual legacy he has left us with cannot be forgotten."

source: PASUGO, June 2012, pg. 17

Source: Katesismo ng Aral Kristiyano, no. 275, pg. 124

"The Church is equally insistent on the proper use of such images, avoiding any and all appearances of making the images into idols, or treating them as endowed with some magical powers.

Source:Catechism for Filipino Catholics

Abe:

Father Abe

I have a question regarding in his question. I have notice that most of our fellw catholics wipe the statue with their handkerchief/towel not because it is dusty (in fact malinis naman at walang alikabok) but because they believe that it will become "miraculous" and grant the favors they ask. Is this still inline with the catholic faith dear father?

Kim
Reply
Dear Kim,

The CAtholics are wiping the Sacred Images and other Sacred Things in the Temple not only for hope of miracle from God through the sacred object but also as an expression of love and affection... It is an act of 'Giving Honor' to what they represent. For instance, the Ark of the Covenant, the Sacred Vessels in the Temple, the Sanctuaries, etc. are considered dear to the People of Israel because they represent the Glory and Honor of God. While the Sacred Images represents the Angels and the Saints or the Lord Jesus.

It is a very good human expressions in all culture and in all times that images of our loved ones are being kissed, they are posted on the primary halls of the house and they are frequently touched. The paintings and sculptures of the Heroes of the Nation are given prominence in the public halls, schools and public plazas. And people are gathering in front of them daily for flag ceremonies, holiday celebrates with floral offerings, band music and confettis. People are usually having their picture-taking near and around the images of the beloved heroes or directly touching them.

These are common human expressions. Are they evil? OF COURSE NOT UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE OTHERWISE. It is not evil to touch sacred images as an expression of honor given to the National Heroes, Heroes of the Faith and to images of Beloved: Parents, Girlfriend or Boyfriend, Husband or Wife, Children, etc."

CHAPTER AND VERSE PLEASE.

GANYAN ANG AMING GINAGAWA TUWING CONSECRATION TO GOD OF OUR TEMPLE, THE TABERNACLE, THE SANCTUARY AND THE ALTAR. WE ANOINT THEM WITH HOLY OIL FOR A HOLY ANOINTING OF THE TABERNACLES, ALTARS, SANCTUARIES AND THE SACRED IMAGES.

(Juan7:24)

at gayundin ay kanyang idinugtong:

"Huwag kayong magsihatol, upang huwag kayong hatulan." (Mateo 7:1)

WHO ORDAINED FELIX MANALO? IS IT A RIGHT CLAIM TO COMPARE HIM TO MOSES AND JOHN THE BAPTIST?

In a blog post that was posted by readme  in his blog dated on February 19, 2011, he defended and answered the question of who ordained Felix Manalo by quoting from the PASUGO dated September 1999, which states that:

"Ordination is the investiture of ministerial or sacerdotal functions through the laying of hands. The first ordination mentioned in the Bible was when Moses laid his hands on Joshua to be his successor. Moses, however, had no need of anyone to oradain him because his commissioning was mandated by God Himself- this is also why Brother Felix Y. Manalo had no need to be ordained. No man has the right to ordain another unless he is sent by God to preach His words (Rom. 10:15). Brother Felix Y. Manalo was directly appointed by God through the prophecies recorded in the Bible fulfilled in him. Through prophecy, God commissioned His chosen servant from the "ends of the earth," giving him the right to preach (Is. 42:9-10, KJV). "Ends of the earth refers to the period when Judgement Day is near signified by the outbreak of the First World War on July 27, 1914. (Mt. 24:3, 33, 6-8), God chose Brother  Felix Y. Manalo during this time to proclaim His righteousness which is the gospel of salvation (Rom. 1:16-17). Concomitant with this right to preach was the authority for him to ordain would be ministers."

Source: PASUGO, September 1999, pg. 2.

Readme admitted that Felix Manalo was really not ordained by anyone, yet after saying it he said:

"If that is your point, it is like saying that MOSES IS NOT A MESSENGER OF GOD.

It is like asking, WHO IS THE GOD OF OUR GOD? WHO IS THE LEADER OF OUR LEADER? and etc...
"

Source: The Iglesia Ni Cristo, Blog by Readme, posted last February 11, 2011.

According to the INC justification why Felix Y. Manalo was not ordained was by using the reason that Moses and John the Baptist were not ordained. Yet, the INC forget that Moses and John the Baptist were Old Testament entities, because first of all, John the Baptist was the last of the Old Testament prophets, according to  John W. Ritenbaugh, that :

" Without a doubt, when we hear the word "prophet," we immediately think of the Old Testament. This is a natural reaction because that is where most of them appear in the Bible. Our memory instantaneously brings forth names like Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and David—all great men. However, without a doubt, the two greatest prophets of all time appear in the New Testament: John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. John the Baptist is the last and greatest under the Old Covenant, and Jesus Christ is the first and greatest of the New."

Source: Bible Tools. org

In other words, Moses and John the Baptist were personalities of the Old Testament, since Felix Manalo was not in the Old Testament times. Since our Lord said that:

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." (Matthew 5:17, ESV)

In other words, our Lord Jesus already fulfilled the Old Testament, and also in the Letter to the Hebrews it is also written

"So the previous commandment is annulled because it was weak and unprofitable (for the law perfected nothing), but a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God." (Hebrews 7:18, CSB)

In other words, Moses was sent by God when he saw God face to face at the Burning Bush, for it is written in the Scriptures how Moses spoke to God directly:

"There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from  within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up." (Exodus 3:2, NIV)

When God spoke to Moses directly from the Bush Moses hid his face from God, in other words, Moses received his commission directly from God:

" At this Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God." (Exodus 3:6, NIV)

"So now, go , I am sending you to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt." (Exodus 3:10, NIV)

Therefore, Moses' was different from Felix Manalo soince, Moses lived in the Old Testament, and was sent by God directly Burning Bush, and also Moses did not change religion in order to proclaim himself being sent unlike Felix Manalo who did that.

If we try to look at the New Testament, the way of sending or commissioning was through the Laying of Hands by the Apostles, after Jesus sent His Apostles and received the Holy Spirit, the Apostles performed the first ordination of the first deacons, it is written in the Scriptures:

"And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Proch'orus, and Nica'nor, and Timon, ang Par'menas, and Nicolas a proselyte of An'ti-och; whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them." (Acts 6:5-6, KJV)

If we will notice, the Apostles are laying their hands to appoint the new deacons who would help the Apostles in spreading God's word to others, in other words, the way of sending to preach was been changed and it is done through the laying of hands. That is why it is not an excuse that Felix Manalo would be compared to Moses and John the Baptist since Felix Manalo did not live in the Old Testmanet and also Felix Manalo was not already in the Old Testament period, rather he is called as the Last Messenger in the Last Days, it is been proven by their PASUGO Magazine dated May 2008, page 10

"He sent Brother Felix Manalo in these last days."

Source: PASUGO, May 2008, pg. 10

That is why Felix Manalo was living in the last days not in the Old Testament Period for in another edition of the PASUGO it is said:

Source: PASUGO May 2012, pg. 19

What do we mean by the term 'The Last Days'?

The Last Days refers to:

" the "last days" refers not only to the "end of time," but to the last two thousand years."

 Source: Catholiceducation.org

which according to the Catholic Books, the Last Days could also be:

"The last days" or "the end times," properly understood, refers to the time of the New Covenant, the gathering together of God's people in the Church, which is "on earth, the seed and the beginning of the kingdom" (CCC 567, 669; Lumen Gentium)".

Source: Catholiceducation.org

In other words, Felix Manalo was not living in the Old Covenant period, for it was already been fulfilled in Christ and was changed into the New Covenant, in other words, he is living in the New Testament perid, that is why it is wrong to say that Felix Manalo was like Moses and John the Baptist, since both of them are Old Testament personalities ending its peak on John the Baptist, therefore it is wrong jusitifcation to use it to answer why Felix Manalo was not ordained, since the New Covenant uses the Laying of Hands to give commission to God's ministers through the apostles.

What is the way of sending minister's to preach God's Word in the New Covenant?

In the New Testament, the Laying of hands play an important role in receiving the Holy Spirit among believers and also in sending off those who are chosen for a particular service:

" In the New Testament the laying on of hands was associated with the receiving of the Holy Spirit (See Acts 8:14-19). Initially the Apostles laid hands on new believers as well as believers who were called to a particular service. (See Acts 6:5). In the early Christian church, the practice was also used in ordination ceremonies and is still used in a wide variety of church ceremonies, such as the ceremony of confirmation, where a bishop, priest, or minister lays hands on the confirmand and prays for him to receive the Holy Spirit. Many churches also lay hands on a person when commissioning them to particular work, such as missionary or pastoral service."

Source: Spirit and Flesh.com

Therefore, ordination plays a vital role of sending of minister's of God to proclaim God's word to all people, since in the New Testament we will notice how the Early Church practised Ordination through the laying of hands. I will cite some New Testament verses where Ordination through the Laying of Hands was practiced:

"So Ananias went and entered the house, laying his hands on him, he said, "Saul, my brother, the Lord has sent me, Jesus who appeared to you on the way by which you came, that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." (Acts 9:17, NAB)

Paul received authority to preach through the laying on of hands by Ananias, it is then that Paul received his commission and the Holy Spirit, in other verses from the Acts of the Apostles, it is also written:

"While they were worshipping the Lord and going without eating , the Holy Spirit told them, "Appoint Baranabas and  Saul to do the work for which I have chosen them." Everyone prayed and went without  eating for  a while longer. next, they placed their hands on Barnabas and Saul to show that they had been appointed to do this work. then everyone sent them on their way." (Acts 13:2-3, Contemporary English Version)

Even the Apostle Paul give empahsis on the value and importance of Laying of Hands in the ministry:

"Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands  by the council of elders." (1 Timothy 4:14, NRSV-CE)

"Do not ordain anyone hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others; keep yourself pure." (1 Timothy 5:22, NRSV-CE)

"For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying of my hands." (2 Timothy 1:6, NRSV-CE)

What do you mean by ends of the Earth as mentioned in the PASUGO quoting Isaiah 42:9-10,KJV?

The PASUGO quoted Isaiah 42:9-10, from the King James Version mentioning the 'Ends Of the Earth':

"Behold the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof."

But what does this term 'ends of the earth' mean? for according to the INC it refers to the Judgement Day. The answer is, it is wrong, because according to Institute for Biblical and Scientific Studies, Ends of the Earth according to it means:

"The Bible uses the phrase "the ends of the earth" some 28 times, and "end" three times. There are several different Hebrew words for "end," [nk, [ws, spa and hxq. The Hebrew word [nk which BDB lexicon translates as "the extremities of the earth," is used twice in the book of Job (37:3, 38:13; BDB 1980, 489). The root of the word means "winged" from which the word "pinnacle" comes. The LXX translates "ends" as pterugwn which is used in the NT in Matthew 4:5, "the pinnacle of the temple." The Vulgate renders it by terminos, extrema, and quatturo. The KJV translates it by "ends," "quarters," and "corners" of the earth. Isaiah 11:12 mentions the four corners of the earth, and Ezekiel 7:2 says, "the four corners of the land (of Israel). These are two other places where the Hebrew word [nk is used. This does not mean they thought Israel was a square, but referred to the four extreme points North, South, East, and West in Israel.
The Hebrew word [ws also means "end." It is used five times in the book of Daniel. Only twice is it used to refer to the earth. Another Hebrew word hxq is used more often than any of the other words for "end." There are two forms of this root word. One is feminine in form, and the other is masculine.
There is another Hebrew word spa that means "extremities." This is similar to the Ugaritic word aps which also means "top" or "extremities" (Gordon 1965, 364, #309). This probably comes from the Akkadian apsu (Pope 1955, 72). This is the place where Ea dwelt, a subterranean sweet-water ocean (Heidel 1942, 81). Tiamat was killed, and half of her body formed the firmament; the other half he put over the Apsu, the waters of the deep, the subterranean sea (Heidel 1942, 155). So the ends of the earth go the ocean that encircles the earth, and where heaven and earth meet. In Psalm 65:5 the ends of the earth are parallel to the farthest sea.
Another interesting parallel is in Isaiah 41:5 which says, "The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came." Here islands are considered to be synonymous with, or near the ends of the earth. The earth was surrounded by water, but there were islands at the edge of the world where the sky met the sea."

That is why it is clear that the term ENDS OF THE EARTH  does not refer to the Judgement Day but rather it refers to the extremities of the earth but refers to the four extreme points North, South, East, and West in Israel. That is why the INC is wrong in referring to the ends of the earth as the Judgement Day. And it is not even an excuse to say that Felix Manalo receive his commission from God that gave him authority to ordain, since Felix Manalo did not receive his commission from God face to face, but rather it was only his opinion and self-proclamation and using and twisting Bible verses that made him receive authority. Felix Manalo did not experience having a direct encounter with God like Moses at the Burning Bush. That is why, Felix Manalo did not pass the standards being mentioned by Romans 10:15, which says:

"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things?." (Romans 10:15, KJV)

In other words, who sent him? If this verse applies to Felix Manalo, then who sent him and how was he sent, according to the standards being delivered and shown in the New Testament, how the Apostles sent chosen men to preach the Gospel to others. It says 'How beautiful are the feet of 'them' that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things', the verse, uses 'them' not 'his', it refers to those preachers who are ordained and sent by the apostles to bring the good news of salvation, but it does not apply on how Felix Manalo was sent.

By knowing the meaning of the term 'ends of the earth' which is different from what the INC claims it to be, we will now notice that Felix Manalo was really not sent directly by God, for he was not ordained according to the traditions and ordinances handed down by the Apostles. For Apostle Paul said:

"Now we command you, brehtren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received from us." (2 Thessalonians 3:6, KJV)

in other words, Felix Manalo is the person who does not follow the traditions of the Apostles as being handed down by them. Since he did not follow their ordinances of ordaining those they are sending to preach and giving them authority. Felix Manalo's authority is questionable already in this matter.  For the Apostles had set an example to follow. For they give a  mandate to observe all the ordinances that they handed down to us:

" Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you." (1 Corinthians 11:2, KJV)

What are those ordinances and traditions that Paul mentioned? Was it the tradition of men that the INC is accustomed to accuse the Roman Catholic Church?, The answer is , No, Paul is not speaking of the so called traditions of men being mentioned by our Lord Jesus to the Pharisees on Matthew 15  nor what Paul mentioned also on Colossians 2:20-22, but rather the Apostle Paul was speaking of the Traditions being handed down by them whether by writing or preaching as he mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 which says:

"So  then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter." (2 Thessalonians 2:15, ESV)

In other words, Paul asks us to stand firm and hold on to those traditions which the Apostles taught whether through their spoken word or letter. Since not all are written in the Scriptures, and the Apostle John in his second and third letter testified that he did not write everything through ink and paper:

"Although I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so by means of paper and ink, but I hope to be with you and to speak face to face, I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so by means of paper and ink, but I hope to be with you and to speak face to face so that your joy may be complete." (2 John 12, LEB)

" I have many things to write to you, but I do not want to write to you by means of ink and pen. " (3 John 13, LEB)

That is why the Apostles also wanted us to observe not only the ones that they had wrote but also those which they did not wrote but spoken face to face to theur hearers, according the The New Concise Catholic Dictionary by Reynolds R. Ekstrom, pg. 257, he defined Tradition as :

"It is the rich and dynamic process by which the entire story of the people of God is handed on diverse peoples, communities, and human cultures. The Christian traditio includes many Christian doctrines and teachings, insights from the church's great leaders, forms of worship by Christian believers, and the living and active faith witness of all the baptized through the unique customs, values, practices, moral rules, rituals, witness and contemporary attitudes of the Catholic Christian community. The term is based on the Latin 'traditio', which means 'handing down' or 'giving over'."

Source:The New Concise Catholic Dictionary by Reynolds Ekstron.

To further emphasize the value of tradition, the official Catechism which is called as the Catechism of the Catholic Church, will further clarify about what Sacred Tradition truly means:

"And Holy Tradition transmits in its entirety the Word of God which has been entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit. It transmits it to the successors of the apostles so hat, enlightened by the Spirit of  truth, they may faithfully preserve, expound and spread it abroad through their preaching."

Source: Cathechism of the Catholic Church, 81, pg.33

In other words, Felix Manalo did not practice and follow the teachings of the apostles regarding ordination, but rather, he self proclaimed himself as a last messenger of God in the Last Days, which neither Scripture attests, since, his ministers only used bible verses out of context to justify that Felix Manalo's authority to ordain was mandated directly by God which is false, since anybody can do that, by twisting Scriptural passages and show as it prophesied their coming. Scripture speaks of these self-proclaimed prophets and preachers which they use the Word of God to support their corrupt doctrines:

"If someone else comes with his own authority, you will accept him." (John 5:43, GWT)

As we can see that there are many who accept the authority of Felix Manalo which is only his own and did not come from anybody else nor from God, because nobody can claim authority unless they are really sent directly from God, in other words, that authority which was transfered for centuries through the Laying of Hands of the Apostles, and not with any twisting of Scriptures, for Scripture also warns us against such twisting of passages:

"Speaking of these things in all his letters. Some of his remarks are hard to understand, and people who are ignorant and whose faith is weak twist them to their own destruction, just as they do the other Scriptures." (2 Peter 3:16, Common English Bible)

The reason why they are twisting Scriptures is because they interpret it privately, which Scriptures warn us not to do such private or individual interpretation:

"But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation." (2 Peter 1:20, NASV)

Felix Manalo and his ministers did the same thing, they used Bible verses which suits to their liking and disregard the others which contradict and oppose their teachings, that is why they use flattering words in order to deceive many:

"For such people are not serving our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people." (Romans 16:18, NIV)

Henceforth, Felix Manalo's authority is only his own and nothing else, he sent his own self and use the Scriptures by twisting it and let his ministers to use all such kinds of Scripture translations, and quoting and twisting verses to support the authority of Manalo and also to use books which also supports them and disregard the others which opposes them, if a right minded Catholic will attend to their doctrine, worship, grand evangelical missions, debates, the INC Ministers uses hundreds of Bible translations and other books, that is why when they skip, they skip from one translation to another then to another book, which made them like a leap frog, leaping and craoking from one place to another. They remove and added the Bible which the Scriptures condemn as such for it is wirtten:

"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away the words  of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." (Revelation 22:18-19, NASV)

That is why Felix Manalo was not a true messenger of God for he is not ordained and he come in his own authority which he twists and his ministers deny and use Scriptural passages to prove and testify to it. To answer to Readme when he said that Catholic priests where not sent by God, then, I'll prove to him how Catholic priests were sent by God because they were ordained and this ordination is done through the laying on of hands as the Apostle Paul asserts and testify:

"In the Roman Catholic Church, the laying on of hands is performed in the sacrament of Holy Orders and is the means by which one is included in one of the three major orders: bishop, priest, or deacon. Ordination can be administered only by a bishop in Apostolic Succession (valid), and should only be accomplished by a bishop who is properly authorized by the Holy See (licit). The laying on of hands to the priesthood enables a person so ordained to act in persona Christi; i.e., "in the person of Christ." Ordination allows a priest validly to administer sacraments, most notably giving that individual the authority to celebrate the Eucharist. The sacraments of ordination and confirmation are, however, reserved exclusively to a bishop."

Source: Wikipedia

According to the 1998th Edition of The Hutchinson Encyclopedia, Ordination is defined as:

"Religious ceremony by which a person is accepted into the priesthood or monastic life in various religions. Within the Christian Church, ordination authorizes a person to administer the sacraments."

It also defines the meaning of Holy Orders:

"Christian priesthood, as conferred by the laying of hands by a bishop. It is held by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Anglican churches to have originated in Jesus' choosing of the apostles."

Source: 199th Edition, Hutchinson Encyclopedia

". From the beginning the diaconate, priesthood, and episcopate were conferred with special rites and ceremonies. Though in the course of time there was considerable development and diversity in different parts of the Church, the imposition of hands and prayer were always and universally employed and date from Apostolic times (Acts, vi, 6;)(iii, 3; I Tim., iv, 14; II Tim., i, 6). In the early Roman Church these sacred orders were conferred amid a great concourse of clergy and people at a solemn station. The candidates, who had been previously presented to the people, were summoned by name at the beginning of the solemn Mass."

Source: The Original Catholic Encyclopedia

"  The question of the form of the sacrament naturally depends on that of the matter.  If the tradition of the instruments be taken as the total or partial matter, the words which accompany it will be taken as the form. If the simple imposition of hands be considered the sole matter, the words which belong to it are the form. The form which accompanies the imposition of hands contains the words "Accipe spiritum sanctum", which in the ordination of priests, however, are found with the second imposition of hands, towards the end of the Mass, but these words are not found in the old rituals nor in the Greek Euchology. Thus the form is not contained in these words, but in the longer prayers accompanying the former impostiion of hands, substantially the same from the beginning. All that we have said about the matter and form is speculative; in practice, whatever has been prescribed by the Church must be followed, and the Church in this, as in other sacraments, insists that anything omitted should be supplied."

Source: New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia

Therefore, Catholic priests are truly sent by God through the sacrament of Ordination which they receive through the laying of hands, which they receive from a bishop who is the successor of the apostles and receive the fullness of the priesthood, which they had receive also from other bishops which in turn receive from another bishops throughout the centuries till the time of the Apostles themselves, a tradition and practice which the Catholic Church preserve for centuries being handed down to her by the Apostles which is also testified by Scripture. And to further prove that priests were sent by God is this, the Scriptures proved it clearly:

"For the lips should preserve knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts." (Malachi 2:7, NASV)

That is why if we try to examine the credentials of Felix Y. Manalo, we will really  question the source of his authority, first, we cannot use Moses nor John the Baptist to compare to him because those two are Old testament personalities and since Christ replaced the Old Covenant with the New, Felix Manalo as the INC calls him God's last messenger in the Last Days, is not under the Old Covenant but under the New because he is living in the last days not in the past days, Second, Felix Manalo did not receive any authority from the apostles through the laying of hands since that was the practice being done by the Apostles themselves as been written in the Bible. Third, that is why Felix Manalo is not God's messenger and cannot claim any authority from God and can be called a self proclaimed messenger of God. And what does the Lord God say about those who call themselves as messengers of God eventhough they are not really called by God? Those eventhough they read the Bible they thought that God had given them authority? It is written in the Bible what God says against such people. For it is written in the scriptures:

"I never sent these prophets, but they ran away. I never spoke to them but they preach away." (Jeremiah 23:21, The Message)

God also warns us not to speak to such prophets:

"Don't listen to the sermons of the prophets. It's all hot air. Lies, lies, and more lies. They make it all up. Not a word they speak comes from me." (Jeremiah 23:16, The Message)

The Lord also does not authorize such kind of preachers:

"I never sent these prophets, never authorized a single one of them. They do nothing for this people-nothing!" God's Decree." (Jeremiah 23:32, The Message)

That is why God is angry to such prophets who come on their own authority:

"I've had with the 'prophets' who get all their sermons secondhand from each other. yes, I've had with them. They make up stuff and then pretend it's a real sermon. 'Oh yes, I've had it with the prophets who preach the lies they dream up, spreading them all over the country, runining the lives of my people with their cheap and reckless lies." (Jeremiah 23:30-33, The Message)

And since Felix Manalo is the self proclaimed messenger in the Last Days, he is the fulfillment of the prophecy by the Apostle John of the Antichrist who will appear in the Last Days:

"Children, these are the last days; you were told that an Antichrist must come, and now several antichrists have already appeared; we know from this that these are the last days. Those rivals of Christ came out of our own number, but they had never belonged; if they had belonged, they would have stayed with us; but they left us, to prove that not one of them ever belonged to us." (1 John 2:18-19, Jerusalem Bible)

That is why it is very clear that Felix Manalo was the fulfillment of this prophecy, and what was the characteristic of the antichrist, according to the apostle John? It is very clear what he said:

"And who is the liar?Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist." (1 John 2:22, NLT)

"But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here." (1 John 4:3, NLT)

" For many seducers are gone out into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: this is a seducer and an antichrist." (2 John 1:7, DRB)

That is the reason why there are many who would still  believe and listen to a self proclaimed angel of the last days rather than on those being ordained through the Laying of Hands, because the Catholic priests and bishops receive their authority through the laying on of hands which was practiced for so many decades which dates back since the time of the Apostles, unlike Felix Manalo who only claimed authority when he privately interpreted the Bible which he and his ministers distort and twist for their own benefit. That is why the Lord Jesus is right in saying that they who are deceived did not receive Christ which the INC reduced to only a man and exalt Felix Manalo to that of angel. For Christ said:

"I have come with the authority my Father has given me, but you don't accept me. If someone else comes with his own authority, you will accept him." (John 5:42-43, GWT)

Because of that the prophet Jeremiah sternly condemns those self proclaimed prophets and preachers by saying:

"The Lord did not send you, and you are making these people believe a lie. And so the Lord himself says that he is going to get rid of you." (Jeremiah 28:15-16, GNB)

Also the Apostle Paul, in his second letter to the Corinthians also sternly condemns such false teachers:

"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."(Galatians 1:8, NKJV)

And it came true in the person of Felix Manalo, a self proclaimed angel in the last days, claiming his own authority to preach as if coming from God through some sort of prophecy by twisting the Scriptures, and was not even received any authority through the laying on of hands from the apostles, yet his son and grandson are ordaining minister using the laying on of hands yet he himself was not ordained. This was the dilemma that any INC member or minister would find hard to explain. And they will make any justification to prove it. Which is unbiblical, illogical and  false.

IN OTHER WORDS, FELIX MANALO WAS NOT A TRUE MESSENGER OF GOD!

Does Fr. Fernando Suarez really praised the INC?

Last 2011 there was a circulating video in the internet that there was a Catholic priest, which is identified as Fr. Fernando Suarez, to have praised according to them the unity inside the Iglesia Ni Cristo of Felix Manalo. That is why there many INC who are as I can say to have been so flattered with the statement of Fr. Suarez praising the unity inside their church, that is why they made a circulating video edited from the original wherein they edited the statements of Fr. Suarez mentioning the INC, and cutting the rest of the homily, which appears to have been supporting them, this is the edited video that was been posted in the internet, wherein they cut the tape and focused it on Fr. Fernando Suarez' homily on the INC.

Edited Video:

If we try to look at the video, the INC cut the video, wherein they inserted the part where Fr. Suarez 'mentioned' the word Iglesia Ni Cristo, they even put english subtitles to it, this are the subtitles:

"You know, sometimes us Catholics seems like we do not care about our faith. We are not the only religion in the whole world that we do not care about our faith...we do not care about our church. We do not defend our faith, we do not  cooperate to the fullest. And , this is noticeable in our everyday lives. If we are going to examine the members of Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo), perhaps they are even less than10%. It means that we are even bigger than they are. But have you noticed how beautiful their chapels are?. They (the chapels) are all. It is because they HELP EACHH OTHER out to BEAUTIFY their CHAPELS. They themselves help. However, us Catholics...we might be waiting for them, members of Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo) to help us. That us impossible to happen. No one will help us Catholics but ourselves. Did you get what I say? Try to think of it, we catholics DO NOT COOPERATE enough." (INC invented subtitles)

However, there are INC members who being flattered had put it into their blog. One of them was readme who was a INC member who is known for his aggresive attackjs against the Roman Catholic Church, he said:

"Ive found a video on youtube about a Catholic priest who mentioned INC and praised INC unity in his sermon. He is "Fr. Fernando Suarez" from Metropolitan Cathedral Palo, Leyte and im hoping that all catholic priests and catholic defenders will be like him, he addressed INC as Iglesia ni Cristo and not as "Iglesia ni Manalo" which uneducated people always say to INC.

He also recognized INC UNITY, which catholics and catholic priests are against, as they take the church's unity negatively..." (posted last December 19, 2011, Iglesia Ni Cristo Blog)

This comment of readme was really funny, why? because he relied too much on the edited video which is indeed very ironic, Since in his recent blog posts, he reacted on the recent debate by the CFD President Bro. Ryan Mejillano, wherein, he accused the one who posted the video to have edited it so that the debate would be in favor of the CFD, yet here he is again, using an edited video to justify his beliefs, such an irony. To know the truth, I would present the original and complete video of the homily for everybody to see:

Original Video:

A Shorter version of the Original which the INC had copied and cut and edited:

If we try to look at the video, Fr. Suarez, was not actually praising the INC, but he is only 'using' them as an example to the people by challenging them and awakening their spirits, that as the majority religion in the country, they must show their care for the Church and the Faith by becoming more involved in the Church, unlike what readme mentioned that  "He also recognized INC UNITY, which catholics and catholic priests are against, as they take the church's unity negatively...". In other words, he made presumptions that the Catholic Laity and the Catholic Priests are against the unity in the INC.  Readme is also ignorant of who Fr. Fernando Suarez is. He said "He is "Fr. Fernando Suarez" from Metropolitan Cathedral Palo." , he thought that Fr. Suarez was a priest of the Palo Cathedral. Yet he didn't know that Fr. Suarez was not from Palo nor is he a priest there, he is only there as a guest priest because of his healing ministry. This is the the biography of Fr. Fernando Suarez:

"Fr. Fernando Suarez, was born in the Province of Batangas in the Philppines in 1967. After spending much of his life living and working in the Philippines, with a Chemical Engineering degree, he came to Winnipeg, Canada in 1995. In Canada, he continued to persue his desire to follow the Lord as a Roman Catholic Priest, something he strongly felt God was calling him to become. In 1997 he joined the Companions of the Cross religious community of priests and seminarians, founded by Rev. Robert Bedard in 1985 in Ottawa, Canada, and Fr. Fernando was ordained to the priesthood in 2002.Early in his life, sometime around the age of 16, God was beginning to use him in a powerful way as he reached out to people who were in need. He found that as he sensed God calling him to pray with people who were sick, these people he ministered to were getting healed. At first he struggled understanding the gift God had given him, but more and more, as the Lord put the people in his path who were in need, the sick were able to find the healing touch of Jesus through the hands of Fr. Fernando Suarez. To date, Fr. Fernando has prayed with literally thousands of people in need of healing, with much success for those with faith.
Since his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Fernando has found that the gift of healing has become more pronounced in him and that God is using him even more. He spent the first year of his priesthood as the associate pastor of St. Timothy¹s parish in North York, Ontario, however, since July 2003, in order to foster the spiritual gifts God has given him, he was assigned to begin a ministry of healing. He is now regularly conducting Healing Masses, retreats and missions, with large numbers of people now in attendance. I met Fr. Fernando back in early 1997, before he joined the Companions of the Cross, and I have especially come to know him as a close friend over the last six years. I can truly say, with complete certainty and assurance, that Fr Fernando is a deep man of prayer, and the most balanced and wholesome person I have ever met. He exhibits, on the day to day level, the fruitful lifestyle and way of life that befits a man who has been called by God to minister as a priest with a healing ministry. He rediates the joy of the Lord to everyone he meets, and people flock to him as they sense his genuineness, holiness, and his personal love for them. Fr. Fernando never lets people down who come to him and for those who open up to him, he is able to speak a loving word and personal affirmation from the Lord which they need to hear for the next step in their personal journey. I can personally attest to the authenticity of the many healings which have taken place through Fr. Fernando's ministry, knowing and speaking with many of those who have experienced healing from the Lord through him.
Since July, 2006, I have been working full time together with Fr. Suarez in the healing ministry. As priests of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Jose, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines, we minister under Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation, a foundation he started to assist the poor and disadvantaged in the Philippines and beyond (see webpage link). In 1996, while praying, Fr. Fernando had a vision of thousands of poor children coming to him seeking assistance. MMP began informally at this time as he gave from the small stipends he received while giving talks as a seminarian. Now MMP has become a charitable organization and all the proceeds from his healing ministry are funneled into MMP to support the poor. Currently, MMP is feeding 2000 students daily, sponsoring close to 140 families, 25 seniors, 50 scholars, and 6 seminarians in the poor areas of the Philippines. MMP has also hosted medical missions, built homes for needy families and erected classrooms in a few schools where the children have classes outside. There are many more projects ahead for Mary Mother of the Poor in the future.
The healing ministry, under the umbrella of MMP, has us conducting healing Masses, missions, retreats, and conferences, along with Life in the Spirit seminars and marriage enrichment weekends. This demand has taken Fr. Fernando all throughout Canada, the USA, the Philippines, Central America, Europe, other parts of Asia, and anywhere else God sends him. Fr. Fernando has ministered in many countries and has prayed over close to half a million people in 2006 alone! Thousands upon thousands have been healed and the testimonies continue to roll in about the power of the Lord Jesus healing His people through the hands of Fr. Fernando. (see testimonials on this webpage)
Fr. Fernando only prays with people after the celebration of a healing Mass. It is the REAL PRESENCE OF JESUS IN THE EUCHARIST who heals and He is using Fr. Fernando's hands to heal the sick and the broken hearted. Therefore, he discourages people coming to him seeking healing outside of the context of the Mass. I have witnessed on many occasions the blind able to see, the deaf able to hear, and the lame able to walk, and cancer disappearing. These are the most powerful healings that often take place on the spot. As well, back pains, shoulder pains, coupled with thousands upon thousands of spiritual healings have become a regular occurrence in the ministry I am witnessing in the life of Fr. Fernando.
The healing ministry of Fr. Fernando Suarez is just beginning and he truly does it all for the Lord. He is a humble man with much wisdom from the Holy Spirit and he is working diligently in the vineyard of the Lord. I consider myself quite blessed to have come to know him and share with him my ministry as a brother priest and I know the Lord is going to continue to use him in greater ways to help light a brighter fire in our Church and in a world that is so desperately seeking the love of Jesus in their lives." (About Father Fernando Suarez by: Fr. Jeff Shannon,Mission team w/ Fr. Fernando, Mary Mother of the Poor, http://www.fatherfernando.com/inside/index.php?action=about)

Readme is ignorant of Fr. Fernando Suarez, because, Fr. Fernando was not a priest of the Cathedral of Palo but he is based on Monte Maria Tent at Brgy. Amuyong Alfonso Cavite. He thought that Fr. Suarez was flattering them by mentioning the INC and that he mentioned that they are helping in the painting their church because they help each other, this is only partial because if he try to watch the whole homily, he only challenged the faithful catholics to awaken their consciousness to be more involved in the church as the source of all graces that comes from God through His Son Our Lord Jesus Christ, not that Fr. Suarez was praising anybody. That is why I suggest to readme to watch the whole homily rather than invent his own presumptions and rely on the edited the videos that is said to 'praise' them.

CBCP Pastoral Letter on the Era of New Evangelization

LIVE CHRIST, SHARE CHRIST

Looking Forward to Our Five Hundredth

Go and make disciples... (Mt. 28:19)

We look forward with gratitude and joy to March 16, 2021, the fifth centenary of the coming of Christianity to our beloved land. We remember with thanksgiving the first Mass celebrated in Limasawa Island on Easter Sunday March 31 that same blessed year. We remember the baptism of Rajah Humabon who was given his Christian name Carlos and his wife Hara Amihan who was baptized Juana in 1521. Our eyes gaze on the Santo Niño de Cebu, the oldest religious icon in the Philippines, gift of Ferdinand Magellan to the first Filipino Catholics that same year. Indeed the year 2021 will be a year of great jubilee for the Church in the Philippines. We shall therefore embark on a nine-year spiritual journey that will culminate with the great jubilee of 2021. It is a grace-filled event of blessings for the Church starting October 21, 2012 until March 16, 2021.
How opportune indeed that on October 21 this year, the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI will add another Filipino to the canon of saints of the Church, our very own Visayan proto-martyr Pedro Calungsod who gave his life for the faith on the morning of April 2, 1672 in Guam.
The canonization of Pedro Calungsod will take place under the brilliant light of the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, the twentieth year of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the declaration of the Year of Faith from October 11, 2012 until November 24, 2013 by the Holy Father. The XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops with the theme “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith” will take place in Rome from October 7 to 28 this year.

FAITH AND EVANGELIZATION
All these events happening this year are bound together by the themes of “faith” and “evangelization”. Evangelization indicates proclamation, transmission and witnessing to the Gospel given to humanity by our Lord Jesus Christ and the opening up of people’s lives, society, culture and history to the Person of Jesus Christ and to His living community, the Church.
This “New Evangelization” is primarily addressed to those who have drifted from the Faith and from the Church in traditionally Catholic countries, especially in the West.
What we are being called to do by this task of “New Evangelization” in Asia is to consider anew “the new methods and means for transmitting the Good News” more effectively to our people. We are challenged anew to foster in the Church in our country a renewed commitment and enthusiasm in living out the Gospel in all the diverse areas of our lives, in “real-life practice”, challenged anew to become more and more authentic witnesses of our faith, especially to our Asian neighbors as a fruit of our intensified intimacy with the Lord.

WHAT WILL THIS ERA OF NEW EVANGELIZATION FOR THE PHILIPPINES CONSIST OF?
The task stands on four pillars:
First, fostering and fulfilling the “missio ad gentes”, as a special vocation of the Church in our country, effectively involving our laypeople, our “Christifideles” brothers and sisters; our priests and seminarians; men and women in consecrated life.
Secondly, “bringing Good News to the poor.” Again and again, Filipino Catholics coming together to discern priorities, have seen that the Church here must become genuinely “a Church for and with the poor.”
Thirdly, reaching out to those among us whose faith-life has been largely eroded and even lost due to the surrounding confusion, moral relativism, doubt, agnosticism; reaching out to those who have drifted from the Faith and the Church, and have joined other religious sects.
Lastly, awakening or reawakening in faith, forming and animating in Christian life our young people and youth sector groups, in both urban and rural settings;
A nine-year journey for the New Evangelization has already been charted climaxing with the Jubilee Year 2021: Integral Faith Formation (2013); the Laity (2014); the Poor (2015); the Eucharist and of the Family (2016); the Parish as a Communion of Communities (2017); the Clergy and Religious (2018); the Youth (2019); Ecumenism and Inter-Religious Dialogue (2020); Missio ad gentes (2021). These are the nine pastoral priorities of the Church in the Philippines.
In the time before us, we will focus on these dimensions of faith, evangelization and discipleship, one by one. And it is most propitious that as we received the faith 500 years ago, so with the Year 2021we envision to become a truly sending Church.
In the face of a secularism which in some parts of our present world has itself become a kind of a “dominant religion”, in the face of the reality of billions who live in our time and who have not truly encountered Jesus Christ nor heard of His Gospel, how challenged we are, how challenged we must be, to enter into the endeavor of the “New Evangelization”! We for whom Jesus has been and is truly the Way, the Truth and the Life, -- how can we not want and long and share Him with brothers and sisters around us who are yet to know and love Him, who are yet to receive the fullness of Life for which we have all been created, and without which their hearts will be ever restless – until they find Jesus and His heart which awaits them?
May our Lady, Mary Mother of Our Lord, lead us all in our longing and labors to bring her son Jesus Christ into our time and our world, our Emmanuel – our God who remains with us now and yet whose coming again in glory we await.
Maranatha, AMEN.
